Break on Through or: How I Got to the Other Side

Well, I always hate the open of these blogs, I never know what to type and I fear that I repeat myself, but oh wells. Lets start with a trade...

Another from corozco at the Trading Card Database. I gave up some Angels, Dodgers and Cardinals scattered across '91 Studio, '12 Heritage, '15 Gypsy Queen and '15 Heritage and got back '14 and '15 Heritage to help me with those sets and some pretty nifty inserts...

2015 Topps Archetypes, Jeter, Gwynn, Pujols and Mays. Only seven more needed for this insert set. I didn't think I'd ever finish it, but the light at the end of the tunnel seems closer.

2015 Topps Gallery of Greats, Mays and Clemente. Another insert set from 2015 Topps I'd like to finish, I only have 4 though, these are a bit more pricey than the Archetypes or Heart of the Order inserts.

Thanks to corozco for the trade. He's a very good trader. I have two more trades on the way, one big and one small. So look for me to ramble about them next week.

Now moving on to some Listia items...

1996 Ultra Call to the Hall, Ryne Sandberg. Recently got the Ozzie Gold Medallion of this set, now a Medallion less Sandberg. 671 points on Listia, not bad for a card with $8 book value.

2010 Topps Cards Your Mom Threw Out, Roger Maris. I'm a sucker for reprints of old cards. 1,510 points.

2015 Topps WWE NXT Prospects, Hideo Itami. I'm a wrestling fan and Itami is awesome. He's not a big name in the States, but in Japan where he wrestled as KENTA, he's a very big name. His finisher is the GTS, which CM Punk ripped off from him. lol 1,510 points again.

That's it for Listia, but one more thing to talk about before I wrap it up. I bought three separate lots off eBay last week and they came yesterday, one lot is a 50+ card lot of 2013 Gypsy Queen, that I'm secretly working on, don't tell anybody. A 50+ card lot of 2014 Gypsy Queen, which I may get to at some point. and a 30+ card lot of serial numbered cards. Roughly 140 cards for $7. Here's the kicker, the seller paid $11 for shipping. Ouch! That does suck.

Now a bunch of the serial number cards do need scanning, but I did a few already. Of the 30+ cards, mostly were baseball, some basketball and a few football...The football I think were the standouts though...because here is one...

'
2013 Topps Pink, Geno Smith rookie card #'d/399. There is this, which I hope I can unload and quickly. lol

2012 Topps Camo, Ndamukong Suh #'d/399. The camo border fits him perfectly, I currently have this on Listia, who knows if anybody wants it.

Those were the two big cards out of that lot, I think so anyways. Hopefully I can unload some of them in trades, the lot was only $1, so it's not a huge gamble. Plus there was a 2011 Gypsy Queen George Sissler Framed Bronze in the group, worth it right there. Over the next few posts, I'll end with what I've recently scanned out of the lot.

Oh and this has skipped my mind for the past several entries, not today though, with the 2010 Topps set, I passed 33,000 cards in my collection and the card that got me there was...
 2010 Topps #380, J.D. Drew.

Fitting that a former Cardinal gets me over the hump? Kismet? Karma? Another K-word that describes a chance occurrence that I don't know?

That's it for now. Make sure you charge the right amount for shipping on eBay, or you're just giving your stuff away. Oh and make sure the cute girl at the post office gives you correct change and the stamps you bought. Now I have to go back, dammit!

King of the World! or: How I Write Too Much About Baseball Cards

My mail box basically exploded the past two days with stuff. So, this is going to be LONG, but with lots of pictures.

First off a few trades, from baddchad20 at the Trading Card Database, I gave up some '92 Studio card. Nolan Ryan, Sammy Sosa and Paul O'Neil. Got back a few 1993 Upper Deck cards and the following...

1991 Topps Cracker Jack, Ozzie Smith (my scan). This card is super small, about half the size of a Gypsy Queen mini.
1989 Score Hottest 100 Stars, Ozzie Smith. I'm shocked I didn't have this card. But I didn't.

Another trade this one from p_dawg68, also at the TCDB. I gave up some Cleveland Indians card and in return...a 2015 Heritage David Murphy to help me on that set. 1976 Keith Hernandez, 1988 Donruss Lance Johnson in Cardinal uniform..also...

1983 Donruss, Willie McGee rookie card. My first Willie rookie.

and 2015 Topps, James Paxton. Odd card to want in a trade, but it was my last card needed for 2015 Topps. I can officially say 2015 Topps is dunzo!

Looking at this stack, I don't know what to go with next...Ok this is a lot I bought off eBay for about $8 I believe..All these cards were in it...

2013 Topps Chrome Update, Yasiel Puig rookie card. This card alone was worth buying the lot for, but I'm not done...

2013 Topps Update 1971 Topps Mini, Yasiel Puig rookie card. Same lot as the Chrome Puig rookie. Like I mentioned earlier this week with the Cespedes mini, I don't care for minis, but I do make exceptions.

2015 Topps Chrome Gallery of Greats, Yasiel Puig (my scan). All three Puig cards in the lot, all nice looking cards too.

2013 Topps Update 1971 Topps Mini Babe Ruth. Also from the Puig lot.

2015 Gypsy Queen, Koji Uehara short print.

2015 Topps Chrome Refractors, Michael Wacha and Javier Baez rookie card (my scans). The Baez I currently have listed on Listia.

2015 Topps Chrome Prism Refractor, Yadier Molina (my scan). Hard to tell from the scans but there are prisms in the background.

That's all from the same Puig lot off eBay, which also included regular 2015 Topps Chrome cards of Adam Jones, Albert Pujols, Hunter Pence, Yadier Molina, Eric Hosmer and Andrew McCutchen. A would say a solid purchase.

Ok. Now lets do Listia stuff. I kinda went overboard on Listia this past week, but I still have a bunch of points left and no, I haven't bought any (nor do I plan to).

2012-13 Panini Heroes of the Hall, Dolph Schayes. Picked this up because I really like the insert set, the cards are very nice looking. 495 points.

2011 Bowman Chrome Futures, Mike Montgomery. I'm a sucker for die-cuts. 499 points.

2012 Topps Chrome Dynamic Die-Cuts, Matt Kemp (my scan). Once again, sucker for die-cuts. 1,045 points.

2015 Gypsy Queen Framed Bronze, Nelson Cruz #'d/499 (my scan).
My love for Gypsy Queen continues and it cost me 5,289 points.

2007 Heritage, Joel Zumaya. It was listed as the yellow name variation. It wasn't though. 1,127 points.

1995 Stadium Club Clear Cut, Todd Zeile. This card is awesome, it's plastic and see through. 672 points.

A quartet of Cardinals in 1994 SP, Bernard Gilkey, Gregg Jefferies, Ray Lankford and Ozzie Smith. I already had the Ozzie but the other three were MIA and they were 984 points.

Now, before the last Listia gettings, a slideshow of Ozzie Smith cards. It will make sense...

1988 Donruss Baseball's Best, Ozzie Smith.

1992 French's, some Baltimore shortstop/Ozzie Smith.

1992 Stadium Club Member's Only, Ozzie Smith.

1995 SP Championship Die-Cuts, Ozzie Smith.

1997 Fleer, Ozzie Smith.

Alright, why did I list those? Well the final Listia mention for the day were three separate lots of Ozzie Smith cards, 9 cards a lot 27 cards in total. I got all three lots for 4,306 points and out of the 27 cards those were five I didn't have. A couple of them, not easy to trade for, but I ticked off five more Ozzie's and got some doubles for sets when (or if) I ever start working on them.

Oh, man this is exhausting. Two more things, then I'm done. An order from Sportlots..

1994 Donruss Special Edition Gold, Rickey Henderson. I'm down to only needing 2 more to complete this set. Larry Walker and Will Clark are all I need.

2013 Gypsy Queen, Don Mattingly. I saw this on Listia for 3,500 points and nearly pulled the trigger, but I went to Sportlots and for 18 cents. And don't tell anybody, I'm secretly working on 2013 Gypsy Queen.

2015 Stadium Club, Ozzie Smith. Must I say why?

2009 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions, Ozzie Smith (my scan). There we have it another order from Sportlots and two more Ozzie's off the list. All four cards 18 cents and about $2 total.

The final item for this LONG ASS entry and it's a cool one, so be glad you stuck around...

2014 Allen & Ginter. Larry motherf*ckin' King TTM Autograph personalized. King is a icon in the entertainment world, some may say he's been turned into a joke over the past ten years or so. Who cares? It doesn't take away from everything else he's done. King's been broadcasting for the better part of 60 years, that's almost double I've been alive. Plus he was in Ghostbusters.

Thanks for reading, I know there were a lot of words, but there were some neat pictures, huh?

Nothing Is Better Than a Quickie! (#5)

Slow mail day, so a quickie and it's a cuatro of Ozzie's...

1997 Upper Deck UD3, Ozzie Smith.

1997 Donruss Elite, Ozzie Smith

1993 Pinnacle Cooperstown, Ozzie Smith.

All three Ozzie's from the same dealer at Sportlots, with another card I hope to talk about at a later date. All four cards were $1.75 shipped. Good deal if you ask me.

2011 Topps, Ozzie Smith. We wrap this entry up with the Ozzie short print from 2011 Topps. Nabbed this off eBay for $7 shipped. I usually don't like to spend that much for a card, any type really..Auto, relics, parallels or whatever. It's the same price I paid for these two Ozzie cards...

2001 Fleer Platinum National Patch Time, Ozzie Smith (my scan)

2010 Topps, Ozzie Smith Short Print

I like the 2010 short print much more than the 2011 one, mainly because it's a picture I've never seen before. The 2011 short print would go on to be used by Topps a couple years later...

2013 Gypsy Queen Sliding Stars, Ozzie Smith

That's it for today, I think I've ran out of Ozzie's and none on the way....Strike that, I have several on the way. lol

By now, the blog should be named Strictly Ozzie.
